Beatbullyz call it a day in The Grapevine by 20Eyes

Bit of a shame, really. Not exactly my sort of thing but they did it very well and were certainly a cut above many pop/chart type acts that have done a lot better than they were able to.

Guess it show just how much a big record company behind you actually matters, even these days.

It's weird, I can remember saying at the time they won the chance to play the Big Weekend and then got on as support to N-Dubz that if they hadn't had a breakthrough within a year it was hard to see how they ever would.

Fair play to them for giving it a good go though.

Excitement is mounting in the Band. Gabby is having difficulty containing her excitement also. She is so looking forward to returning to her home-town of Swindon on Saturday 11th February. Tickets are available at the Swindon Arts Centre Box Office, or online:

Expect lots of new songs from her soon to be released second album, "The Band Called Out For More".

If you can't wait, or can't come (boo!), visit her Pledge page to become part of the single video, or to obtain the new album and lots more before the release.

Victims of success in The Grapevine by lazarus

So here’s the thing. Since we raised the profile of Green Man via this website and started pushing away from our more parochial activities and widened our coverage of bands to a national, occasionally international level, things have been going well…too well. We now have a reasonable stream of requests from PR companies and websites to get involved with their clients. We get offers of free entry to shows so we can review and interview bands, advanced copies of forthcoming releases, all the news and gossip and so on. It’s great, or it would be if we had time to take advantage of the situation.

With that in mind if any writers with a flair for exploring and dissecting new and largely unsigned music would like to help contribute to the site we would welcome you with open arms. There isn’t really any payment but you can expect to be forwarded links and physical CD’s of pre-release music, chances to interview bands (either by e-mail, telephone or in the flesh) free entry to certain shows and a great chance to build your own networks within the music PR, press and marketing areas.

Since we re-launched our site in July we have had nearly 90,000 hits so you can be assured that anything you write will be accessed by a reasonable audience and the hit rate is visibly increasing week on week and anything you contribute to the site remains your own property to re-use as you see fit.

If you are looking for an open door into the world of music reviewing, please get in touch.

Best week of new music in The Grapevine by Sheermusic

A lot of us have moaned about the lack of new music, or the abundance of tribute acts... Well at the end of The Month, The Vic has an incredible line up on offer... How is this?

Thursday 26th - Nudy Bronque, The Fixed, The Costellos, The Street Orphans + Super Squarecloud

Friday 27th - Youth Blood (Napoleon In Rags new band), Icarus Youth + Anchor & The Wolf

Saturday 28th - False Gods, Port Erin + Bodyglass

Now I can't help but think the Thursday night is over doing it, with 5 bands, but you can't quibble it's value for money at £3 (Just stick on The Racket, and call it SWINDON'S UBER INDIE FESTIVAL NIGHT SHOWCASE DIORAMA EVENT) - but that's an awesome line up for 3 nights worth of music.
