The Wire

aha - I see we had a thread already : )

Just finished watching S2 - the only problem with watching it intensively seems to be having to stop yourself talking all 'street' in real life : )

If anyone has Virgin Media then Series 1 is on TV Choice (that's where we saw it - in the space of a few days ha)

I've just put my Series 2 DVD up on eBay but if anyone wants it they can have it for £15 (it's 25 in HMV where I got it)

Anyone got Series 3 they want to sell ?

**edit** - and yes, Omar is one of the best characters I've seen in anything

You can get the first 3 seasons for under £15 if you go to a site called www.find-dvd.co.uk. You'll find the latest prices and its dirt cheap.

Season 4 and 5 are a little more expensive.

Oh...The Wire is friggin ace. I'm currently on season 3, first few episodes.

Two episodes left of series 3 for me - getting better and better with every episode.

Finished the lot now - utterly utterly brilliant.

ok - bizarre thing happened - I flogged the last of my box set DVDs on eBay and the buyer turns out to be the nephew of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarke_Peters

Surely his uncle could sort him out some freebies? And what are you doing selling them?! : O

I thought the same at first! His answers to my casual follow-on questions seemed genuine enough.

I flogged each series to fund the next : )

Question now is - what does a fella watch after The Wire - there is a gap in my vacuous and shallow life where Bunk and Omar used to be...

If you haven't seen it yet, try The Shield - I've heard nothing but great stuff about it (in fact, just like The Wire, I own the first two seasons on DVD, even though I've not seen any yet!! ; ))

Although I didn't watch it with quite the same commitment as TimthePig did, it was hard to avoid The Wire in this house for a few months back there...so I did get sucked in too.

I particularly loved the younger characters and the school stuff - brilliant. And the actress playing "snoop" was astounding. I got a bit obsessed at one point at finding out about the backgrounds of the actors in it etc...

God I loved Bubbles, and my heart still breaks when I think about Duquan.

Brilliant brilliant television.

Did you know it's president elect Barrack Obama's favourite TV show ever. That gives me hope : )

Ive had series one sat around for ages gathering dust, finally started watching it on sunday (we're up to e8 already) it is such a great show. The hype of being the greatest show on tv is true!!
HMV.com has the first few series for 15 quid, so bought the 2nd last night!!!!

Amazing stuff, cant believe it took me so long to watch the thing : )

I still haven't seen a single episode of this show yet but, if anyone's interested, it makes its terrestrial debut tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 11:20pm. Unmissable apparently.. : )

If you can afford it I really encourage getting the DVD sets : far more enjoyable when you can watch a few in a go (imo) but yes, if you can't watch on your telly box. Is good.
