I can't get hold of Mr Law which I know is the default option - in his absence anyone suggest a valve-amp-fettler ?

seems to have a developed a physical rattle/oscillation at volume, which in turn usually triggers an odd electrical/distorted oscillation in the actual signal. My initial 'open up, see if anything obviously hanging loose' investigation revealed nothing, so needs a proper look at.

yeah I've got a full set of spares and it's not a valve unfortunately.

It's a replica of an old Marshall 18watt - (seen here last time it was repaired! - that's the bloke wot builded it)

Ok, thats ruled out then, bit like mine (hand made, point to point, 2 channel dual rectifer twin amp, based on fender '59 bassman clean channel and mesa/twin drive channel)

Is that a solid state rectifier cap where the GZ34 should be? Have you tried swapage there?

If you have swapped valves about, usually the phase inverter valve that makes the odd ocsalating sounds, and as it is a 'proper' amp, there is not a lot to go wrong!
I can give you the number of the guy wot builted mine but he is in Harrow.
