Very good player. Those guys aren't in it because it's a provisional England squad.
Good shout with Walcott, but I think the likely event has been suggested above.

My Starting XI from the 30...

Hart
Johnson, King, Dawson, Cole
Lennon, Huddlestone, Lampard, Milner
Rooney, Defoe

Of course, Cappello's starting XI will be a lot different...

This'd be my starting XI from that squad:

Green
Johnson, King (or Ferdinand if he's 100%), Terry, Cole
Lennon, Gerrard, Lampard, Milner
Rooney, Defoe

Too much tottenham in there Damo me thinks.
Not that I'd be unhappy with it but I don't think you'll ever see that line up happen this world cup.

I'd keep Defoe on the bench to scare the living daylights out of the opposition when Rooney needs to be substituted.
Rooney clearly works better with a big man up front for England and Crouch will get the nod i think, people forget his scoring record for England is so impressive.

No real surprises. It was always a toss-up between Wright-Phillips and Walcott. For my money, Capello's made the right choice.

Bloody Heskey. He's only worth playing alongside Rooney, which means if Wayno gets injured/sent off we're effectively two forwards down... Other than that though I think the balance is right, would have taken a punt on Adam Johnson personally but there you go

I bloody love the world cup, everyone (myself included) gets to have a slightly ill-informed but nonetheless convincing opinion on the England team. For my money, I think the squad is as good as it can be. Walcott would have been okay coming off the bench but he's not up to spending 90 minutes taking on the defences of the likes of Italy. Oh and I would have swopped Bent for Heskey because despite all the crowing about Heskey being perfect for Rooney/holds the ball up well etc if it came down to an 89th minute semi final one on one with the keeper who would you rather have? Somebody who has scored a measly 7 goals in 50 England caps and cant buy a game for Villa or someone who somehow scraped out 25 goals in an utterly average Sunderland side this season?

Ill-informed opinion finished. Bring on the Yanks!

I was only (half) jesting mate.

I think probable starting XI will be:

James
Johnson Ferdinand Terry Cole
Lennon Lampard Gerrard Milner (or Joe Cole)
Crouch Ronney

The squad is crap. Let's be honest anyone who thinks we'll win is just being stupid. Capello or not we do not have the players capable. Quarters again for us.

Crap? Really? We have 2 attacking-minded full-backs (Johnson and Cole) who are both great defenders, but also bloody quick at getting forwards. Terry & Ferdinand COULD be one of the strongest Centre-Back partnerships at the tournament, provided both stay fit and are mentally right for it. In midfield, we have quality and experience in Gerrard and Lampard as well as the world-class quality of Rooney up front. I think we have some gems in the squad to mix it up (Lennon, Milner, King, Joe Cole) and Capello's expertise to guide us.

Believe!

The romantic in me would love to agree, but for every position there are better players in other teams. And most of them play in teams that actually use TEAMWORK, not the usual ego fuck-fest that is an England world cup performance... Still, on paper it is a good team, Capello is a great coach and stranger things have happened...

Greece won Euro 2004 with a "crap" squad - like Sam said, we just need 11 players to work together.
