Reply to Post 68896 by Deluk in Swindon Shuffle 2010 rock n roll still lives on

To be honest, there is nothing rock and roll about someone old enough to know better whining that he hadn't been invited to the party. The rock and roll line would have gone more like "screw you, who needs you anyway... I'll have a few more beers and then book a few gigs for myself."

I thought that was the rock'n'roll line. The music part is overrated to be honest.

rock and roll is sticking it to the man , sounds like that was his idea of sticking to the shuffle

I get that but The Shuffle isn't "the man" it's not council run or big business, it's music fans arranging something for themselves run largley on good will and peoples free time and effort as a way of showcasing local acts and generally creating a good vibe. If there is anything that is less about "the man" I would like it shot and wall mounted.

Completely agreed and another point... if you're gonna "stick it" to this so called "man" wouldn't it be better to "stick it" to him and come out of it on the other side with some kudos at the very minimum??

bad press for yourself and your band, no gigs from said "stickin" or no future chance of playing the shuffle - just seems like you've thrown your toys out of the pram, then proceeded to jump out of said pram, eyes closed waiting to be impaled onto one of the He-man figures that lays on the floor with its sword conveniently raised to the ceiling.

Nothing Rock and or Roll about it in my eyes but then again I have a secret love of tea and crumpets so what would I know... 8 )

If there was a government Department of Analogy...you would be its Chief Minister.

When I was a proper 'rock and roller', I drank to excess, took every drug imaginable and had sex with many women and some men. Occasionally I would pick up a guitar and play a bit, but only if the booze ran out, there were no drugs left and nobody wanted sex.

I'm going to run for the Analalogy Department at Swindon Borough Council : )

Sex & drugs & rock & roll, whatever next? Opening time on a good day : )

As said by others, getting leery at the shuffle party ain't gonna do you any favours, far from it. Violence or threats of really are the last resort. There's far better ways to get your own back, as a few people who've pissed me off over the years have found out. Personally i don't see any point in throwing a wobbler just because someone else gets the gig, if you don't get it,try again next time, learn from the experience.

I would just like to say as the Shuffle person who was involved in this incident that the person who wished to vent his frustrations did at the end apologise to me and shook my hand as he left, I'm not going to get drawn into this any further as I'm more interested in looking forward to the festival, I don't agree with the way I was spoken to but the guy in question wanted to get his point across and that's his call, it's done and dusted now..... let's move on....Let's talk about the music...
