The Swindon Shuffle music festival is returning for it's fourth year, confirmed as taking place from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th August 2010, and artists hoping to perform at the festival are invited to submit during April.
"The Shuffle is a festival to celebrate the huge number of great musicians we have in and around Swindon", commented Paul Jellings, Chairman of the Swindon Shuffle, "so it's only right we give all local artists who want to play at the festival the opportunity to apply."
"When several of us sat down and scribbled out the basic idea for the Shuffle four and a half years ago, none of us anticipated the incredible response we'd get from both musicians and the wider public in Swindon”, continued Richard Craven, one of the festival co-founders. “We’ve always said that it is primarily a festival for Swindon’s musicians, so it is important we continue to give as many as possible the opportunity to play to the new audiences the festival attracts.”
The fourth year also sees the festival return to it’s roots by donating all door takings across the festival to it's two charity partners, confirmed this year as Heart FM's new charity, Have A Heart, and the Goldenhar Family Support Group.
"After the recent recession all businesses, organisations and charity events are having to review their costs, the Shuffle included", said Paul, "so we took the opportunity to remove some event costs, enabling us to give all this year's proceeds to our charity partners, something we were only able to do in the first year with backing from the Swindon Cultural Partnership."
Artists wishing to submit in the hope of appearing at this year's festival need to send an email to swindonshuffle@live.com with the name of their act, a link to their myspace page or website containing at least two of their songs and stating which days they are able to appear. Submissions close Friday 30th April.
PLEASE NOTE ALL MONEY FROM ADMISSION WILL BE EQUALLY SPLIT BETWEEN THE TWO CHARITIES ALL RUNNING COSTS WILL BE PICKED UP BY THE HOST VENUES
