Hello

123 And In, came back from a gig in Ipswitch the other day, and had in tow one of those rubber wrist bands you see people wearing in support of a charity or another.

Only this rubber band was a key ring - It was advertising the relaunch of ipswitchgigs.co.uk

I check it up, and it's a very effective, but easy to navigate / basic music website

I remember a while ago, people were talking about raising the profile of both Swindons Music scene, and this here website...

So im suggesting... Why not a relaunch?

Organise a couple of gigs, coincide it with a major unsigned music festival in the town, hit a few of the "big" gigs (@ the Oasis) with s**t loads of flyers for the website, BBC Radio Wilts etc etc and really push it...

See what it does...? Or not a good idea?

This idea, I like. I'll be sure to get Swindon 105.5 on board too, even if you didn;t mention us ; )

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply, been really busy. I like the idea but I think you need new features etc to launch and I don't have the time at the moment : ( Maybe I can get a few article & feature writers to help out.

If anybody knows anyone who would be interested in writing reviews, features and meeting bands for interviews, please pass on my e-mail adam@swindonmusic.co.uk.

Nice website, easy to navigate and pretty much does everything this website does. It's presented in a different format, but does it offer anything different to this one? I'm not so sure. Admittedly, I think their calendar is easier to read than our one and I also like the gig photos idea.

I guess Adam's hit the nail on the head with time to manage and update this website. Other than the forum, the rest of this site is pretty 'static' (that's not a dig at Adam, just an observation).

IMHO We need a community run website, where volunteers regularly update the content. I guess it's all about time management...

there is nothing to stop people sending in reviews and gig information at the moment but they don't. It's all very well saying that content should be updated regularly but when bands themselves can't even be bothered to post their gig info on here I have to ask who do you envisage doing these updates,?

I wasn't suggesting we needed a all frills content smashing website, what I meant was - the guys brought a wrist band advertising the website - thats got to be good for their scene?

If "we" as a group of people helped with the recreation of a new website, simply refreshing it - giving it a new face, coupled with some big events in swindon (sugarhill, shuffle, that new venue that was the bingo hall opening...) then maybe we could reenergise and maybe turn a few new heads?

Thats all I was suggesting... I don't mind writing an engineers account / review of the gigs I do, could be entertaining if I was mean!! But seriously, im a nice guy...

looking at that site, we could definitely do with a listing that shows what gigs are happening in the next 7 days or so.
