Reply to Post 64558 by Matthewkilford in Matthew kilford to play Glastonbury 2010 And as usual the 2nd post begins taking the mick out of something they don't quite fully understand.
I love swindon people

I'd agree with the theory that it's someone with some kind of grudge, there's been some strange jealousies in our little music scene over the years!

I do wonder how much they get paid to write for the Adver though, I want in!

Reply to Post 64634 by Tom_Himself in Matthew kilford to play Glastonbury 2010 It's a bit late, and while I might not enjoy the music, I know others will. I have voted, and wish you all th every best of luck!

...in regards to the detractors, peep this: If you don't support Swindon Music, how can you expect it to floushish? Stop pointing at the tip of an iceburg and ocmplaining at how small it is!

I'm Tom Himself, and I approve of this!

Tom thanks for voting.
Although it may seem slightly odd I always do feel a bit uneasy when people who don't even like the music put a vote in. I doubt I'd get half the votes otherwise but I would have had no problem with you or anyone else for that matter listening to other bands and voting for them.
All i can do is let people know about it and hope they click on my face as this form of promoting is the easiest way to let people know about it.

I think it's a case of even if the music isn't your thing, most people like to see a local artist moving on up.

Nice one Matt, I've cast my vote for ya.

Myself and my brother (Valjester) caught you at Camden Crawl last year, and we were both well impressed.

We're going to Glasto this year also, so I hope to see you there.

Good luck

That's exactly right. I'm a member of the music scene first, and a radio DJ second. I've been lucky so far, that I've been able to do things in the focus of my musical tastes - in this case, rock and metal. Even if I can't go to many gigs, or attend many festivals...when a local artist of any genre does well, then it's worthy of praise if praise is due.

Notice, however, that doesn't mean cruddy bands get a free ride - I'm not going to vote for every Rod, Sod or Madame...but I will support talent, regardless of genre.

I'm Tom Himself, and I confuse myself at times!

I am sometimes very proud of the Swindon Music community. Hopefully, getting Mr Kilford to Glastonbury will be another moment.

Keep on pimping yourself Mr Kilford and stop apologising for it.

I've always maintained that just because I cant use a band or an artist on my show, there's always someone else here we can put them on.

i wouldn't worry about it, the other 9 contenders are bound to be doing the same, the winner is likely to be the one who puts the most effort into plugging this comp to reach the maximum number of potential voters.

so just do whatever you can to get this thing under peoples' noses, then at least you can say you did your all. i just put in my vote for you. best of luck.

Voting closes Mon 8th March and chosen finalists should hear by 15th March, so not long to go!! I've been touting it round my work and hopefully a few colleagues have voted.

I notice (on the Terms/Conditions page of the website) it says the winner(s) will be offered the opportunity to perform on a main stage at the Glastonbury Festival 2010 at a time, date and for a fee to be determined by the Festival organisers.

As a solo artist, I wonder if said "main stage" will differ for you, compared to if it's a band that wins?
