Okay, well, this is, I guess, for anyone that didnt watch it. Motorsport is not everyones cup of tea.

Start:- Hamilton gets away well, Massa maintains his place just about after Kovi tries to get past.
Someone got a really good start and gained a few places (Cant remember who though).
Kimi had a poor start and lost a few places.

Hamilton builds up a good 11 second lead at the front, while in the middle of the pack there is exciting overtaking everywhere on the circuit.

Alonso tries to make the Renault work for him but he is trying too hard and makes a mistake at the hairpin that cost him a couple of places.

Toyota rear left suspension fails coming out of the last corner onto the pit staright and sends Timo Glock spinning backwards into the pit wall at 140 MPH sending debris all over the circuit. This brings out the safety car which loses Hamilton his 11 second cushion.

Then something strange happens....... (The safety car came out near the time for the second pit stops) and the pit lane does not open until all cars are in their respective positions. Pit lane opens and all the front runners go in for their last stop except for Hamilton.

When the safety car goes in Hamilton has to try and buils a lead to get in and out of the pits for fuel and soft tyres. He only gets about 16 seconds but needs 24 or so. Comes out in fifth place with, amazingly, Nelson Piquet jnr leading the gran prix. Fair play to him, team tactics right for him with 1 stop. With 1 of the other runners in front of him having to pit it left hime:-

Kavallainen
Massa
Nelson Piquet Jnr

To try and overtake. In all honesty, Kovi had to let Hamilton through as he was so much quicker. He closes in on Massa, and then I think Massa made an error of Judgement coming into the Hairpin, he had the inside line covered, which would have forced Hamilton round the outside, but then just before the corner moved to the outside, allowinf Hamilton to outbrake him and overtake. Massa tried to come back but Hamilton was having none of it and he puuls away and starts chasing Piquet.
Exactly the same thing happened with Piquet a couple fo laps later.

During this time Coulthard and Barichello decide to put each other off the circuit.

Hamilton wins and Piquet is a very fine second with Massa third.

Kimi, well, I dont know what is happening with him.

Alonso, showing his true colours again, same as last year. Spoilt brat. Instead of congratulating Piquet, all he does is moan about his bad luck, which inr eality was down to his, not very good, driving.

All in all a brilliant race and cant wait for the Mickey Mouse Circuit that is Hungaroring in 2 weeks time.

My overall view this year is that Hamilton is in a class of his own, and he is British.

Did you see the conference afterwards? Masa was not a happy bunny, but as the commentator said, you can't give Hamilton an inch. It was a pretty ballsy push from Hamilton I thought, but totally fair, and it was Massa's decision to move towards the outside that allowed Hamilton to pass.

And definitely agree, really looking forward to the next two races, both good circuits for Hamilton, hopefully they'll be just as exciting as this one was.

Yep, he shouldnt have moved over. Stupid move, and when he tried to come back Hamilton was just agrresive.

Funny how when its Hamilton being aggresive its not fair but when it was Senna he was the greatest driver ever.

I remember a saying Senna had:-

" If you dont get out of my way there's gonna be an accident" How aggressive is that......

Yeh, same as you, cant wait for the next couple of races......

Haha yeah fair point.
I think if Hamilton carries on over-taking as he did yesterday, people are going to start getting very pissed off. Fair play to him though, its obviously working!

Well, this season is starting to look like the Lewis Hamilton show.

Now, people can turn round and say he is in the best acr all they want but the lad still has to drive the damn thing.

So much for Kimi Raikonnen being the so called world champ.......what is he playing at. Massa is achieving so much more than him.

Should be a good race today with the McLarens locking out the front row of the grid and could be on their way to the first 1 2 of the season.

Well, this turned out completely different to what was expected after qualifying.

At the start Massa provided a simply stunning piece of overtaking on Lewis Hamilton into the first corner and although he wasnt that much quicker he looked very strong throughout the whole race.

The two major incidents happened towards the end of the race, for Lewis it was with 27 laps still to go. He had a puncture and had to come in for his super soft tyres (and had to try and make them last 27 laps), this pushed him down to 10th Place but he fought back well to get 5th place.

I felt extremely sorry for Massa as he was having a blinding race and was most definately the man of the day for me, but his engine gave out 3 laps from the chequered flag.

All in all another good race with some unfair results at the end of the day, but that is sport and life in general.

Did anyone see todays race?
I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet but it was bloody good. Full of drama!

Race was alright, not the best of the season, but defo agree about the drama, more so nearer the end, almost switched channel half way through, then the action started.
Wed 27 Aug 2008 11:54
Yep, drama started happening towards the end and involved Ferrari.

Kimi Raikkonen is not having a good season. Too much vodka probably.

Runs over a mechanic and then his engine blows (Couldnt help but smile when that happened).

I am very bemused as to why the Stewards opted to wait until the end of the race to investigate Ferraris blatant dangerous pit games. Surprise Surprise though, because it is Ferrari nothing is done. You can bet your bottom dollar if that had been McLaren they would have had a stop go, or a ten place drop for the next grand prix.

Its the only thing that pisses me off about F1 nowadays, they may as well rename it, Ferrari's F1 show.
Sun 7 Sep 2008 23:39
Well that race was a bit good - until the FIA decided to give Hamilton a 25 second penalty and demote him to third. F1 is a farce and positions are no longer decided by the race but by the officials who will stop at nothing to get a Ferrari world champion. Hamilton did nothing wrong. He was forced to cut the corner and then dropped back before over-taking at the next corner.
