Reply to Post 63920 by Paj in Life’s Little Annoyances Sounds like they were crossing the t's and dotting the.... lowercase j's ; )

or they were unimaginative moronic sheep who were trying to sound superior.

Reply to Post 63836 by MisterUrOnFireMister in Life’s Little Annoyances No I wasn't generalising, like I said I enjoy his stuff. Have just had my fill of people parroting his opinions without actually forming the opinions themselves!

I don't get this. I've read it a few times now and still I don't get it.

How do you decide if someone is parroting an opinion or not?

I think I might get it if you're referring to one person, who has maybe annoyed you by starting to quote Charlie Brooker, when you know that they're 'not like that'. Someone you know well or something..

But I don't get it other than that. Surely the more people that hear and embrace, the word of Charlie, the better? That's right isn't it?

Am I missing something??

Its healthy to have a bit of cynicism towards everyone but its hard with Charlie Brooker because he gets it so spot on almost 100% of the time. There are things he's written/spoken about I have disagreed with but it doesnt happen very often. This was my recent favourite. I havent watched a news report (BBC and ITV in particular) in the same way since.

Well quite, he holds the mirror up to the media very well. And surely his accessibility is fundamental to his appeal? If anything, fair play to him for packaging his views together so succinctly, without losing any of their pertinence.

So when people like it, it's not really that surprising... on account of it being right a lot!

That's why I don't really get that point before.

That clip is brilliant. I know what you mean about not being able to watch a news report it the same way again. It was like that after watching The Day Today and Brass Eye for me.

New annoyance = the generation gap... People considering you alien because you are the wrong side of their age range.

I don't even need to watch it and I think I know what it is.

A major annoyance this week: the likes of Gordon Brown and David Miliband appearing to believe that the Israeli government gives a flying s**t what that pair thinks about anything.
