For the want of a better title...
Fri 5 Feb 2010 11:01
At the moment I'm looking at having a go at producing some ambient, liquid, drum & bass style stuff. Chilled & weird stuff. This will no doubt be a phase so I'm not looking to spend a lot on software but I'm looking for something that will give me a professional output.

Ideally I'd want something with a drum machine, some sort of synth plugins and a few effects (mainly delay/modulation).

A few years ago I had a play around with fruityloops (now FL Studio) with varying results but found it quite easy to use. Prices on that range from $99-400.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I got FL Studio 9 xxl the other weekend, didn't cost me a penny either... You should get that.

Was that a legit copy or the kind you will find on the second link down when you search for FL Studio 9 xxl? ; )

I don't think it was from that specific link, it was based around a download of the trial version. There is a step by step guide once you download it (obviously not legit) but it tells you how you can install that as the full version by doing some jiggery pokery folder shifting, and it works perfectly.

Yeah I used to use fruity for my dance stuff, always loved the interface. New versions are supposed to he great too. Ableton's the obvious one but is probably a bit more in depth.

I've only ever used Ableton... I should stop being lazy and check a few other packages!

Any DAW will do to be honest.

Personally, Ableton Live was probably the best purchase I've ever made, the full 'Suite' version is very pricey though.
I have Logic as well and rarely use it, in comparison to Live it is work.

real good support for it , easy to use and is stable and you get things like 909 drums and 808 synths , it runs vst's , you can build full songs up with ease .

its got a full FM synth too .

do you have a mac then i guess , not sure if they have done a mac version.
