Drum Mats
Thu 21 Jan 2010 08:44
I think I've made a topic about this before but I've been looking into a mat for my electric kit. My house is about 10-12 years old so it's built out of corrugated cardboard so the vibration from each hit (especially on the toms and hi hat) are going straight into the floor...and I bought this kit because I thought it would be quieter.

I've seen a couple on thomann, namely this one which according to the Roland website will deaden the noise and make me drum like Jo Jo Mayer. The sales blurb sounds good (three layers & rubber feet for noise absorption) but then it should.

Has anyone got one to recommend? £179 RRP is a bit steep for what it is...

If you google a bit you should find the "plywood and tennis balls" diy version - bizarre though it sounds apparently they are fairly effective, if harder to roll up and carry out lol

hang on here you go - one thread but there are others :

dudes! why pay over the a*s for a drum mat, when the any commercial floor mat will do just the job just as good... remember the ones when you were at school as soon as you get in?? 6ft by 8ft.. i "aquired" mine from work... works a treat! : )

Nice, any idea on how I could get my hands on one? At the moment I'm using layers of corrigated cardboard which is doing the trick but things keep slipping about
