2 hours after they beat Sunderland 4-3, Man City have sacked Mark Hughes and already confirmed Roberto Mancini as the new boss.

This essentially means he went into the Sunderland game a dead man walking, pretty shitty way to treat him to be honest.

City were never going to be a top 4 club this season, doesn't matter how much money the owners gave Mark Hughes to spend, completely unrealistic expectations.

Ridiculous. They were never going to win the league this year which left them with with a realistic aim of a top six finish (6th at the moment with a game in hand) and perhaps one of the domestic cups (carling cup semi final so far and the fa cup yet to start).

Some s**t results for them so far though when you look at the players they've got now.

MArk Hughes is harldy a world class name, OK, his coup of robinho was a masterclass but to a lot of other world class players he doesnt have the name appeal that mancini will have. Im sure he will have a go at raiding Inter for a few players, esp Mario Balotelli.
Hughes has spent around £200m over the summer and with that amount of money you should really be doing abit better that 6th. Some of his signings have been questionable also, lescott? bellamy? Santa cruz? All good players in their own right but not top 4 players.
I like man city and mark hughes, but these day owners want instant success, hughes knew he had one of the toughest jobs in football at man city and he wasnt performing to the standards expected of him
