Hey Guys/Girls

Currently thinking of getting a 7-string guitar but am not to sure as to if it is really worth it. was just wondering if anyone out there knew of any pros/cons of a 7 seven string?

Do you want to play really really downtuned metal? If so then it means you can take it as low as drop A without breaking sweat. So a whole 5th lower than a six string in drop D. Or you can use it more creatively and use extended or split tunings on a seven string. The downside is that they look ugly as hell. Alternatively you could try and find a Baritone guitar which is basically a six string with a longer scale that is usually strung B - B

Well im trying to sort a prog/metal band at the mo and am looking to get a new guitar. I'm just not sure if it would be worthwhile getting a seven string just so there is (or as it appears) some more options while playing.

Depends what you're after tbh. If you're after really bassy chunky downtuned stuff, then I'd recommend getting a baritone as mentioned. Check these out:

I think if you're after bassy sounds you're better off with a baritone, though if you're into split tunings then 7 strings is better.
