I read all the books, and I enjoyed them.

Good point......... Yes, Dracula is a love story, but in a completely different way than the teenage rubbish portrayed in twighlight and new moon. Tell me what part of Dracula is a love story? Well, my view of it was that Vlad the impaler was in Love, but was not a vampire at that time, he became a vampire because his love killed herself and he blamed the gods.......So, its a bit different from Twighlight which is just a love story for teenagers........

As I said - its horses for courses, its only my opinion - one in many millions, I am sure there are films that I enjoy that other people would say was "Rubbish"......... sometimes they are right as well, I just dont see the wood for the trees sometimes - hahahahahaha

You can see the wood in Twilight, it was called the acting (sorry Amanda!!!) : )
In Dracula it was Jonathan Harker and Wilhelmina Murray and also their sworn enemy Draculas intentions towards her, in Twilight its Bella and Edward and the vampires sworn enemy Jacob the werewolfs intentions towards Bella. The main difference is that its written more in the style for teenage girls.

Yes, missed that point. Good basis.

For me, which is slightly off topic, but still film based, I absolutely loved Alien and Aliens, and I am of the understanding that Ridley Scott (Director of the original Alien film) is making a new Alien film.....dont know if that rings true or not, but if he is I will be going to see that.....

Could prove to be a fascinating film if true

I thought that Twilight was pretty dire but then it's not really aimed at forty something hippies, but must agree that the acting was pretty rubbish and the plot a tad predictable. That said only one Dracula film has stuck to the book and the acting in that was no great shakes, I took me an hour before I realised that Keanu Reeves wasn't actually playing the part of a piece of talking furniture.

Stokers book is however well worth the read, not least for it's interesting form, which is as a series of letters and reports. Twilight the book, I should imagine, is best used as kindling.

Yeah, Keanu Reeves was appaling in Dracula!! The Twilight books arent a bad read, if you read them in the context they are written. But I agree, the original Dracula book is a brilliant read - on the same subject I suggest everyone should read the original Frankenstein, if only to see the true story and not the film scripts.

Is that the Ken Loach one set in Scotland? If so then I'm with you - brilliant and heartbreaking film.

I thought Dracula (apart from the aforementioned interesting structure) to be a pretty tedious read personally. Frankenstein on the other hand, is pure gothic mentalness and well worth a look.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet, but I'd put Apocalypto right at the top of this decade's action film list.

Actually, talking of Mel Gibson films - This is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you take the Cinematography of the following film, it is breathtakingly good:-

Passion of the Christ
