Films of the year...
...like the albums of the year thread, but with films instead.

We just watched 'Let The Right One In' the other night, which I thought was pretty bloody ace, so I thought I'd see which films you lot have been liking thus far this year?

Star Trek was a pleasant surprise for someone who doesn't actually like Star Trek, definitely enjoyed it more than the new Terminator film too.

Anyways....

Star Trek was a fantastically entertaining film and, like you, that's coming from a non-Star Trek fan.

My top two are currently Zombieland and Inglourious Basterds.

I need to see Zombieland ASAP, the trailers look ace!

District 9 for me... Haven't seen much else this year that was special. I missed Inglorious Basterds.

But yeah, Star Trek was good too.

'The Damned United', 'Inglouroouisous Basteeeeerds' and 'The Hangover' I have enjoyed this year but 'Moon' is the best I have seen. Low-budget classic type of sci-fi with a brain, directed by David Bowies son (the previously unfortunately named Zowie Bowie).

I saw Zombiland last night. Definintely the best film I've seen in the cinema this year (actually, probably one of the only films I've seen at the cinema this year, but that's not to take anything away from it). Really funny but still plenty of horror. Woody Harrelson is great; his tongue couldn't have been more firmly in his cheek.

Haven't yet seen it, but pre-ordered it on dvd a couple of weeks back after several fine reviews from several reliable sources.

Have you seen Role Models? I thought that was superb!

I've never read or seen any Twilight stuff, I had it written off as a sort of Dawsons Creek with fangs annoying teeny thing, but that could well be Paramore's fault. Whatever, the soundtrack to the new film has a really interesting collection of artists on it including Thom Yorke, Bon Iver, Death Cab For Cutie and Grizzly Bear!

We saw 'Up' at the cinema the other day, I loved it! : )

Just saw Dr. Parnassus at the cinema, Gilliam's done it again. Best film I've seen in AGES

Believe me, it is. Visually stunning, great sense of humour and VERY Python-esque in places

I liked District 9. Thought it was clever and liked the fact that it had no A-listers in it. Effects were cool, and I thought it was pretty gory in places! (I'm told I should probably give Zombieland a miss, due to me being a girl)!

Looking forward to Star-Trek and GI Joe (both queued up) and I really enjoyed Pixar's "UP". Emotional in places, but good family fun. Some side-splitting family moments too!

I though I was watching this film but ended up extremley confused (altough entertained none the less). Was expecting aliens but got bad dubbing, martial arts and free running. Was watching District 13. Genuinely had no clue what was happening.
