What I want to know, more than anything, is what that little s**t Alonso knew about this? My guess is, given the way he has behaved in the past, that he knew exactly what was happening, but then proving it is something else.

However, what a piece of mis-judgement on the part of Piquet. Anything could have happened when that car hot the barriers......

And for those that say if the points were re-calculated to show that Alonso should not have won and that Massa would have won the WDC they should re-think.

Massa would have come in 12th (no points) and Hamilton 1 place higher giving him an extra 2 points, so therefore, no difference at all.

I'd have thought the safest thing all round would be for only Flav, Symonds and their kamikaze driver to know - it sounds as though even his race engineer didn't know.

Are there recording of radio chat? If not, it would be word against word unless another party overheard the conversation.

the original accusation was that it was all briefed face-to-face beforehand (as transmissions are recorded) . Although "Accusation" seems a moot term as Renault are offering no defence

Hmmm, sounds as if someone else may have gone "Oi Flavio, I was in the background when you had the chat..." as it would have been 2 'respected' seniors against 1 embittered ex-employee otherwise.

It begs the question what else might have come out if they'd dragged him through the courts...

F1 is in a sad place right now. Irvine's comments today about how it is rife and this is all being blown out of proportion sadden me

Well, it is true about it happening all the time, just nowadays everything is in the press a lot more:-

1989 - Prost rams Senna off the circuit for WDC
1990 - Senna repays the favour and admits it on TV
1994 - Schumacher rams Hill for WDC
Also, at some point, in Monaco, Schumacher leaves his car abandoned in the middle of the circuit so he can stop qualifying and get pole.

Loads more incidents as well, that smack of non Sportsmanship........ Who knows hey..... I just wanna see Fernando Alonso left with nowhere to go for a drive because no one trusts him.......

If Briatore is the cheating bastard that it seems, i hope he gets banned from FIA sanctioned sport for life, the same for anyone else proved to have been involved in the incident (Alonso or not).
I think Schumachers Monaco parking problem was 2006, he was scared of Alonso getting pole & he (Schumacher) got demoted to last on the grid. I've walked the circuit a couple of times, theres loads of parking spaces, maybe he's got a thing about the Rassecasse, but at 90 euros for lunch, i gave it a miss. 8 )

You forgot Schumacher trying to ram Villenueve off in 1997 @ Jerez for the driver's championship.

Then there's been all the team orders over the years, this particular is being totally blown out of proportion when really it was a team exploiting a stupid and poorly thought out rule.

Nothing like the same thing.
Team orders evolved because there was no sporting or safety rule that prevented it, and over the years it had had tacit approval.
Over time public/spectator opinion on it changed and only then were rules introduced to (try and) stop it.

Crashing a car on track to a degree and in a position such that the safety car has to be deployed is a very different thing. The safety implications to driver, other drivers, spectators and marshals should be obvious. That a team/individuals would do that deliberately is breathtakingly arrogant and dangerous, and doesn’t make the pitlane rules suddenly stupid.

I used to work for Williams and spent time at test sessions at Jerez, it was great. Was really funny when Rosberg was the test driver then and he didnt know I spoke German and was amazed when he was asking some other guy in German where a restaurant was and so I told him in German. Also, Mark Webber was nicest guy around.

Anyway, I digress, with regards to the Schumacher incident, in their Museum of cars they have the actual car dangling above the foyeur and if you look closely you can see the red on the side pod (left hand) of where schumacher did that.....

As another add on, for a laugh, they had doors with windows you couldnt see through and I went through one of those and Patrick Head was the other side with a cup of tea and I pushed the door staright into him.....bahahahahaha - All I can say is, never get on the wrong side of Patrick Head.......

I'm very happy that Flav's got banned, i only hope that the drivers can sue him for bad management over the years.

Jonesy, i though Patrick's "Head" was world famous as something to avoid. Well renowned for his temper, from what i've been led to believe. On the Nico front, I met him last year & he was sound, but I can understand that he was young & flash in those days & still is, i met him away from any possibility of him being full of himself (Monaco hospital, just after he'd crashed last year). I'm also sure he'll make a t**t of himself when he gets his first win, but I hope he gets one.
