Albums of the Decade Thus Far
Thoughts, suggestions, insults?

Yeah it's another list from Mr Moon

As we head towards 2009 we're only 13 months away from another one of those "Albums of the Decade" debates, so I thought I'd get in on the act a bit early.

I think the 00's have been a pretty good era for music thus far with some great albums, so what would you consider the albums of this decade

1 Radiohead - Kid A
2 Primal Scream - XTRMNTR
3 Radio 4 - Gotham
4 Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus
5 Doves - Lost Souls
6 LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
7 Bronx - Bronx (The first one)
8 Queens of The Stone Age - Songs for The Deaf
9 The Strokes - Is This It?
10 The Coral - The Coral
11 The Fall - Imperial Wax Solvent
12 Arcade Fire - Funeral
13 Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood
14 The Fall - Fall Heads Roll
15 Rival Schools - United By Fate

I hope you meant 'Sound Of Silver' and not 'LCD Soundsystem' as that album was so much better.

Off the top of my head, I'd offer up Panda Bear - Person Pitch

I kinda cheated, I meant the 2 disc version of "LCD Soundsystem" on account of the bonus disc including "Losing My Edge", "Sound of Silver" is a great album though.

For me it has to be 'Cease To Begin' by 'Band Of Horses'. Best live band I have ever seen also.

Doves - Lost Souls
The Strokes - Is This It?
The Coral - The Coral

These would be amongst my favourites, and off the top of my head I'll also add:

The Wrens' The Meadowlands and The National's Alligator. I think Coldplay's Parachutes deserves a mention too.

Tough call!

But here goes, in no particular order:

Radiohead - Kid A
Ryan Adams - Jacksonville City Heights
Shellac - 1000 Hurts
The Strokes - Is This It?
Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World
At The Drive-In - Relationship Of Command
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus
The Coral - The Coral
Radio 4 - Gotham
Radiohead - In Rainbows

Oh fuck, a few more:

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium
Do Make Say Think - You, You're A History In Rust
Subtle - A New White

There's so many more, but surprisingly so few are from the last couple of years... Don't make 'em like they used to...

Good to see that first Strokes album is cropping up a fair bit, it is still a cracking collection of tunes, I remember getting "The Modern Age" EP from Virgin and being very impressed not only with the title track but the fact it had "Last Nite" and "Barely Legal" as the b-sides,

As Bobby said elsewhere - a very important album and band.
Sun 30 Nov 2008 14:06
At The Drive In - Relationship of Command
Muse - Origin Of Symmetry
Four Tet - Rounds
Burial - Untrue
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Radiohead - Hail To The Theif (well, the first 9 tracks or so)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell
White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Dizzie Rascal - Boy In Da Corner

In no particular order, plus I have no idea what albums have come out in the last 9 years.
