David Celia
Not sure how to write this without coming across as a gushing and loyal fan, but hey that's what I am.

He's the real deal. Don't be fooled by the easy 'rootsy' tag, or the classic pop sentimentality of the crafted songs and musicianship. Once you've lived with this guys stuff for awhile it just won't leave your head. I know this because every time he plays the UK, I'm lucky enough to get on board briefly and listen to his songs on constant rotation.

I'll never get to play with Robbie Robertson, Jackson Browne or (gasp) the Eagles*, but I will get to play with David Celia and he's more edgy and colonial than the West Coast formula anyway. That's good enough for me and hopefully, good enough for you too.

* a bit radical maybe, but there you go.

We had the pleasure of supporting Dave at Riffs a few years back and he is so amazing.
I always find myself listening to his tunes on my ipod.
Well worth checking out!

Toronto's finest tomato-growing singer/songwriter/guitarist. Where's Dan Quayle when you need him - is there an "e" missing?

I would advise anyone with a pretension to songwriting, or playing the guitar to see Dave - watch and gawp in awe....

And for everyone else...see him he's great!

(personally I think he's a git - he writes better songs than me, plays the guitar better than me and is generally more affable and charming than me....git!)

The annoying thing is, his recorded stuff is a bit middle-of-the-road, with too much production. But live he really rocks out. He's really worth seeing for that.

Agreed, that's a common trait with the Americans and Canadians but I think David's songs just manage to transcend that. Give the stuff more than a few plays and you'll forget about the production.

Anyway, live and with a flailing and out of practice drummist in the middle of it all it's deffo not going to be MOR!

Don't know about who is the best looking but, if anyone's into drum porn*, tonight I'll be playing an imported silver sparkle Fibes bebop kit. As far as I know it's the only one in the country, and it sounds and looks rather beautiful.

*I know ... yawn ..... zzzzzz ... drummers really are strange.
