Quantum Of Solace
What do you think??

Just realised that we're missing a thread on the new Bond movie....

So what does everyone think of it????

I thought it was OK. (was a goodish action flic, nothing spectacular and didnt live up to Casino Royale)....but it just didnt feel like a Bond film. I know the last one was a change of direction, but this one just seems to be trying to out do Bourne as much as possible. My main gripe was it had way too much action, it didnt seem to let up from the opening scene. From car chase to boat chase to fist fights to shoot outs to more chases and then exploding buildings!!!
And to be honest I didnt really care about any of the characters either, they just didnt have any real emotion about them.
And I know they wanna get away from the gadets and gimicks, but at least have something more than a flashy table and a tracker mobile come on use your imagination a little!!!

Final moan, they didnt really explain the QoS, yes most american films do over simplify most plots but this one left a little too much unexplained for my liking.

Maybe Im being to cinical (sp?)

Overall an ok action movie if it wasnt a Bond, and not enough "Bond" for a Bond and not enough of a plot. (That last bit made sense in my head anyway 8 ) )

plenty of 'bond' in there, just not done too obviously.

i do wish they had filled in more on the story, but i get the impression the next film is going to continue on from this.
and 'quantum of solace' is just the title to a short story fleming did about bond, it has no meaning or relevence to the film, a few of the titles to recent films have been similar references.

Saw it sunday. It's not bad, but I rewatched Casino Royale last night which is much better, mainly because as the dude says the characters are more rounded, and there's a better plot which is better explained.

Just got back from watching it, liked it, but wasn't hugely impressed.

Some good action thats well shot, bit in the plane scene made me scream.
But I miss the gadgets and the traditional 'bond-isms' - although there were a few references to previous bond films (Fields in oil - Goldfinger)

This just wasn't a patch on Casino Royale, and the story was a little too obscure and ended up being hard to follow; although if you did manage to keep up, it does set up nicely for the next installment.

I think this film just tries too hard to be a bit arty (the bit with the opera) but it loses what makes us love Bond films, and I reallllly didn't like the opening sequence at all.

Still worth seeing, because hey, it's a Bond film (and Daniel Craig takes his clothes off)
But I look forward to the next one and hope its a bit more impressive.

It kind of does, Quantum is the name of the organisation White and the other men at the opera belong to.

I really enjoyed it. Like the others said the story wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but the action was better. I've always been a huge fan of Bond, but even I was getting bored with the same format - I love the way they've rebooted the franchise. Did anyone else notice the subtle hint that James Bond is just a cover name for agents?

To me it felt like a 3 hour film that they had to cut down.. Like they missed out big chunks of the story line and only left the bare essentials, making it rather hard to follow.

I never actually saw Casino Royale (shock) so I can't compare. But I was a big fan of the older films, and what I see as the best bits have been cut out.

On the other hand, it wasn't a bad movie - I did enjoy it - even if I was sat right at the front.
It just wasn't what I was expecting.

I guess it's just a new Bond generation that I'm not a huge fan of.

I expect there are millions of people who love it!

I used to like the old Bond films, up until Timothy Dalton. I tried watching Casino Royale, but turned it off before the hour mark as I found it dull and half formed - if this one isnt a patch on that, then I dont think I will bother. Then again, the Bourne films are some of my favourite films of all time, so if this is more Bourne than Bond I may be interested...
I have just finished listening to "Devil May Care" on audiobook and that wasnt too bad.

I didn't even think Casino Royale was very good to be honest, so if this isn't as good as that I think I may have to pass.

I've seen and enjoyed both new Bond films. Though the new one just flies by, it would be easy to miss a few things in the plot.

I also enjoy the Bourne films, I wonder who would win in a fight.
