Reply to Post 32496 by Bodhi138 in eye-liner-tastic Junkyard??? Not strictly sleaze, more southern rock influenced, but great all the same.

Good band, Brian Baker's credentials read like a Who's Who of US punk: Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Dag Nasty, Samhain.

In a similar style, does anyone remember Little Caesar (debut album had a great rock version of 'Chain Of Fools'), Salty Dog, Circus Of Power, Every Mother's Nightmare, and Dangerous Toys (Scared' is such a killer tune - and how can anyone not like a band that had a song called 'Sportin A Woody'?)

And it's clear The Darkness never heard TNT's '10,000 Lovers', or they'd realise their parody fell far short of the actual reality.

And can we really have a thread entitled 'eye-liner-tastic' without mentioning Twisted Sister, Pretty Boy Floyd and the Vinne Vincent Invasion?

Reply to Post 32526 by MarkEMoon in eye-liner-tastic I see that Errol Flyn by The Dogs D'Amour is now only £17 on Amazon instead of the rather ludicrous £45 being charged previously, still a bit pricey, might have to stick with my Skeletons:Best Of compilation for now, about time someone re-issued the China Records stuff, I'm sure Tyla has tried to rectify this, generally it gets tangled up in legal stuff with former record labels.

If you have a way of getting it from vinyl to CD then there is loads of stuff you can borrow, this included. Myself, Kaz and the Fowlers were blasting this and many other Dog's albums out last week in the early hours. Marvellous!

Reply to Post 32517 by lazarus in eye-liner-tastic Thats the one, I must have had a Stiv Bators album at some point then, or at least a lend of it, still have that tune in my head after all this time.

You and Moonboy will be pleased to know that I have just found a cheap copy of The Nymphs on e-bay and its on order. This thread is costing me every time we mention a new band.

You will not be disappointed with the purchase Dave. The Nymphs were a great band.

If you keep reminding me, I'll do you a copy of Errol Flynn ready for next Friday.

I've got a Salty Dog album somewhere, but the one that has just sprung to mind is D.A.D - No Fuel for the Pilgrims...(?) ....what was the big single?

I still love the Pretty Boy Floyd album.. i even have some of the re-recorded versions that they would add one track to and release as a "new" album.

Some might argue we never really left, the corner just got a lot bigger.

I've got an envelope stuffed with old gig tickets, starting from my first proper gig (Iron Maiden, Oxford Apollo, 3/10/86 - £6.50!!!) through to the last gig I went to (Only Ones, Shepherds Bush Empire, 9/6/07 - hmm, about time I got off my arse and I think ....).

Anyway, check out this busy month or so in 1988 - quite varied and quite questionable in places:

7/3 - Heart, Wembley Arena
13/3 - AC/DC, Wembley Arena
16/3 - Mission, Colston Hall
19/3 - Frehley's Comet, Hammy O
7/4 - Alice Cooper, Wembley Arena
11/4 - Def Leppard, Wembley Arena

(Julian, I reckon you were at least 4 of those!)

This was just before I fully embraced the world of glam - 10/6/08 sees Gypsy Queen plus Tigertailz at the Astoria (signed incidentally by the Cardiff glamsters), then once you get past Donington '88 and Metallica at Hammersmith (£8!!!!!!) it's glam all the way: Dogs D'Amour, Quireboys, Sea Hags (all Bierkeller), Skid Row/Vain (Hippodrome), Enuff Z'nuff (Bierkeller, and signed by Chip - odd bearing in mind I never liked them!), Kill City Dragons (Monkey Club that one) before becoming a bit more varied again - Jellyfish (Bierkeller), Gaye Bykers on Acid (Link Centre), Buzzcocks (Studio), Ramones/Damned (Brixton), Sisters of Mercy (Wembley), Jane's Addiction (Studio), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Portsmouth Poly, £4.50!) through to various early-ish Manics gigs (Astoria and Town & Country Club, supported by the Wildhearts at both; plus Kilburn National), Redd Kross (Marquee, but I saw them a fair few other times at non-ticketted shows) and the Nymphs (Marquee).

I've even got what I think is my first Marquee stub from when Mr Fowler and myself went to Kill City Dragons and Gunfire Dance.

I was surprised to be reminded that I saw Keith Richards at the Town & Country Club in 1992!

I remember that, I just happened to be walking past Our Price when you were finishing for the day and you abducted me and dragged me off London for a night of eyeliner, rock n roll, and chicken noodles at the London School of Economics.

What a great thread this is turning into

Good to see the Early Manics namechecked, they were a great band early on (those great early 12" singles) and "Generation Terrorists" still a fine album
