Reply to Post 32480 by MarkLuth in eye-liner-tastic Lords - the bassist and drummer went on to be in Kill City Dragons - who lost all members (apart from guitarist) to Shooting Gallery. Theres a connection for you!! the other connection was that the quality of th eir output went down as they progressed from band to band!!

Rich, the Lords vinyl you bought was probably mine..... : (

would the bassist have been Dave Tregunna?

Mate, if these were sold in hard times you can have them back?

I bought "Killer Lords" a few years back on CD which is the one I play the most, got all the classics on there (New Church, Russian Roulette, Dance With Me, Black Girl White Girl etc).

Dave Tregunna was indeed the bassist with Lords...

Him and Brian James recently reformed the Lords, not sure I'd want to see them without the late great Stiv Bators on vocals though

I like where you're going with this thread Dave I finally got around to buying "Young, Loud and Snotty" on CD earlier this year and thought it was incredible, I've known "Sonic Reducer" for years but not much else), I should get around to buying the follow up "We Have Come For Your Children" which has the classic "Aint It Fun" on there.

How about the Nymphs??? Their debut album is a truly great sleazy Stooges scuzzy punk fest with the female equivalent of The Lizard King on vocals. Inger Lorre had a great voice and was really sexy in a damaged goods kind of way.

Junkyard??? Not strictly sleaze, more southern rock influenced, but great all the same.

Who wants to copy me some Lords Of The New Church? I'm ashamed to say I've never heard them ...

I can burn you a copy of the "Killer Lords" compilation mate, I think you will like.

You actually reminded me of the Nymphs first album earlier this year (I remember getting home that night and boozily ordering it on Amazon) cracking album, Hole ripped then off a treat, Inger Lore was far more talented (and bonkers) than Courtney Love.

I recall Mr Fowler played a fair bit of Nymphs at Level 3 back in the early 90s

Mr Lazarus I strongly recommend the first "Nymphs" album which was called "The Nymphs" it's been deleted for a few years but copies do turn up online for around £5, cracking album, I did have it on tape from 1991 but had forgotten about it until Mr Gammon played it to me a few months back.

Inger has resurfaced with a new line up of the band but she is the only original member, not sure how good that would be as it was very much a band sound.

Nymphs always reminded me a bit of Janes Addiction who although not strictly a sleaze metal band (actually Janes were a wonderful hybrid of a band who kinda had a foot in several camps) fitted pretty well with some of the other stuff being discussed.

Things really are flowing here!

I also re-bought the Nymphs CD about a year ago. Saw them at the Marquee in 91 on what I think must have been their only UK tour before they vanished. Then there was the classic story of Inger Lorre pi**ing over their label boss's desk ....

Dave - It's Cold Outside (as opposed to Baby It's Cold Outside by Dean Martin, or Tom Jones & Cerys if you prefer) was an old 60s song later covered by Mr Stiv Bators. Can be found on Disconnected.

The reformed Lords was a sham - was only Brian & Dave plus the drummer from Gunfire Dance (I Have no issue with that as he's a great drummer from a great band) plus Jez from lesser-known London glam n'er-do-wells the Pleasure Victims. Should have been ashamed of themselves.

No, I have nothing to play vinyl on... and yes, they were sold in "hard times".... although my interpretation of "hard times" may differ to others.

Methinks the next Barry's Disco needs a healthy dose of this fine music played!!

Thats the one, I must have had a Stiv Bators album at some point then, or at least a lend of it, still have that tune in my head after all this time.

You and Moonboy will be pleased to know that I have just found a cheap copy of The Nymphs on e-bay and its on order. This thread is costing me every time we mention a new band.

I see that Errol Flyn by The Dogs D'Amour is now only £17 on Amazon instead of the rather ludicrous £45 being charged previously, still a bit pricey, might have to stick with my Skeletons:Best Of compilation for now, about time someone re-issued the China Records stuff, I'm sure Tyla has tried to rectify this, generally it gets tangled up in legal stuff with former record labels.
