Reply to Post 32780 by MarkEMoon in eye-liner-tastic very much the sound of Level 3 circa 1993

I wonder if this is an opportune moment to mention Urge Overkill? Didn't have the image so much, but around that time I recall having a real soft spot for 'Sister Havanah'

A great club tune.

Reply to Post 32774 by lazarus in eye-liner-tastic I did name check the Wildhearts in an earlier post but no one took me up on the offer...thoughts anyone. Had a blast of their best of on Friday night before we went out, there are simply some quite brilliant songs on there.

Oh i do love a bit of Wildhearts...

But they were a few years before me really... as i w as more of a 3 Colours Red fan... and to a lesser extent Therapy?

How ever when they released the s/t album last year i couldnt get it out my cd player!!

I missed their gig at the furnace gig, i bought tickets and my shitty old car broke down on the 20 mile trip there. That car made me miss fear factory in Portsmouth too a month before... really have no idea why i was even going to it....

Reply to Post 32819 by MarkEMoon in eye-liner-tastic Third Eye is a brilliant album definitely Redd Kross' finest hour (I do like "Neurotica", "Phaseshifter" and "Showworld" as well) it does baffle me why they weren't huge, such great pop songs, is it me or does Jeff McDonald sound exactly like John Lennon?

My copy is due over the next few days

With Dave's purchase as well aren't you worried that there might be suspicions of chart-rigging taking place in SN1 and so even if Redd Kross do manage a new album they'll be banned from the charts?

Have just loaded up Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend, Last Great Dreamers Retrosexual and The Jesus & Mary Chain's Pyschocandy onto my player for tomorrow's commute ....

Ha ha

I think we've kick started a Redd Kross revival, hopefully the new album will result in some UK dates, I'd love to see Redd Kross live again. Fair play to see Rhino Records re-issue this great album (hopefully they will sort out re-issuing those early Fleshtones albums next).

Hmmm .... I'll be taking 'Retrosexual' back off again at the soonest opportunity! Shame - used to love that band but I really did find it quite unlistenable.

Dave - if you're in anyway still interested, Last Great Dreamers were part of the London scene circa 90-94, and used to be called the Silver Hearts. Had a Swindon link as a guy called Boog (a friend of Didz from Squarehead) joined them on bass for a while. Oh, and they played the Moonrakers once (very brave).

They played the Camden Underworld in January last year - not sure why I didn't go. I will resume kicking myself shortly.

another one to add to the list. I sort of use Glamrock Aftershock as a bit of a shopping list at the moment.

Now, I've just used this thread as a shopping list. Just ordered Saturation by Urge Overkill.

Whilst viewing the UO vid, I found this little gem:

Paul Stanley - Strutter Live

One of my favourite Kiss songs.
