The most unsettling side of this whole affair is that gordon Brown made a statement on the affair in the House of Commons - doesn't he have more important things to worry about at the moment other than the self promotion antics of a couple of giant egos?

Indeed. Brown using the incident to deflect media heat from himself, at this precise moment, is far more 'offensive' and disrespectful than anything Ross and Brand have done.

This thread probably should have died about 20 posts ago, but Charlie Brooker sums this up beautifully, making much the same point as Edmonson really:

I did a double take yesterday on seeing the cover of Ross's book, which was no doubt printed long before this whole debacle, but couldn't have better tailored to cash in...

Yep, Clarkson and Frankie Boyle have already 'horrified the nation' with their 'depraved' remarks.

Just when I thought this country really couldn't get any more shit, it surprises me yet again.

Frankie Boyle has been close to the mark for years, it's strange it should only come up now...

Its just another media phase of whipping up a s**t storm in a tea cup. If Clarkson had made those comments last month instead of one week after the Brand/Ross fiasco nobody would have batted an eyelid. It'll pass (unless somebody decides to exhume Mary Whitehouse).
