Just purchased a real top notch sound card for recording

E-MU 1616 - top, it has xlr, Speakon, jack, midi - all the connections you can think of.

I now have the perfect setup for a recording studio.......

Cant wait to set it all up tonight..... and then watch it.... well, not work.......bahahahahahaha

Woohoo.....

Awesome, the sound card is set up beautifully, so I now have the following:-

E-MU 1616
Computer running Fruity loops and Cakewalk 7 producer edition (will be getting other software soon)
Samson Resolv50a Active Studio Monitors
Studiomaster trilogy 206 - 16 port 4 bus mixing desk
Roland JV-2080 Synthesizer Module
Mic with Pop Shield
Amps
Guitars (Bass and Rhythm)

Well, just about everything I need for a recording studio.... oh, plus 2 tracks already penned, top....

You've overlooked the most important and potentially most expensive part of a recording studio.....sound treatment!! A dead room to mix in is more useful than most bits of gear!

Very true, but then I have seen what a good producer can do with the equipment I have just mentioned and also heard the finished product, and too be quite honest it is 95% as good as the real deal, but saying that, unless you work in the music industry, the last 5% is not really noticeable on the finished product.

I have been mucking about with the software, but I think it is going to take me a while to really get used to it, and I am not used to producing either, but I am hoping Swindon college will be doing evening courses for Music Production next year.
