I think having to wait 17 years probably doomed it's credability....Its NEVER going to live up to that long a wait...

Heard the new single the other day, sounds just like.........gnr 15 years ago!! But like a band trying to be a s**t gnr!!!

Takes the guy 17 years to put out some stuff that sounds the same but now its really dated and none of the "gang" are still there. Egotistical dick!!

From what I've heard of it, it sounds like an album recorded 15 years ago by Axl Rose and some vaguely disinterested session types. All Axl seems to have done to it since then is add dodgy dance samples to the beginning or every track which dissappear as soon as the song kicks in. I think it's probably Axl's attempt at making it sound current.

It's not the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was never gonna be the greatest either.

If Axl wants to make solo records, that's fine, but to release it under the Guns N Roses name is an insult

Agree with Rich, how this can be called gnr is beyond me. Would respect it slightly more if he called it what it really is an Axl Rose solo album.

Guns n Roses new album...my arse it is! Have (unfortunately) heard most of the album now and in my 'professional' opinion it's shit! Harsh but fair, me thinks. How can Mr Rose continue as GnR? It doesn't make sense

Ok. I've listened to it and to be honest its not amazing but it certainly doesn't deserve to be labelled as shite. Of course its not going to be another Appetitte of Destruction, How can anybody expect them to top that?

It's different, it certainly misses Slash's distinctive tone and sound. You can tell Axl has tried to continue his attempts to create something really epic with the big string sections and pianos from their last originals album. 17 years in the making is probably the biggest question mark against it. Although I would without a question would rather listen to it rather than the offerings of bands like The Kooks and other shite indie acts that invade our charts.

I personally don't see the problem with it still being an Guns N' Roses album rather than a Axl Rose solo project. I mean Oasis have lost near enough all their original members and still go by the name and they don't take any stick for it.

I can understand why british fans are bitter, their just pissed the british element of Slash is no longer there.

I wouldnt have minded if Axl had put out something a bit daring and half decent, but the fact is it sounds like a guy over singing trying to sound like axl rose to crap songs.
It misses more than just Slashes tone, it misees guns n roses!!

Thanks Mark, this saves me having to listen to this, the single was awful, it's essentially an Axl Rose solo album that he's spend the past 15 years mixing, remixing and overdubbing it.

It's an insult to the band that he's able to release this as a Guns N Roses album minus all of the band.

I have only heard the single too,but reviews and comments by various individuals have led me to believe that I shouldnt bother buying it. Most reviews express the opinion that it is Axl Roses fronting a tribute act to a band he used to be in, and still getting it very wrong.

Why stop here, perhaps Krist Novoselic should get back in the studio with several session musicians and record the "long awaited follow up to In Utero" so what if Kurts dead and Dave's busy with the Foo Fighters.... perhaps Cresta Cola could give a free drink away with each copy.
