Am I missing something or is the new album the worst thing they have ever done? I still want to really like it, but its like a band with no energy or intelligence wanting to sound like Rise Against....

Please tell me if i stick with it I am going to love it.... I love Rise Against but ITS NOT WORKING FOR ME!

I think the nicest thing i can say about it is that its a decent album but a poor Rise Against album. As Debs said, its like a band wanting to sound like Rise Against without knowing how or why.

Its fairly decent. But tbh none of their albums touch siren song of the counter culture.

I can't make my mind up. Shippy absolutely loves it and they can do no wrong as far as he believes.

I've had a couple of listens. It's definintely quite different. I'm not convinced though. On one hand I had previously got a bit bored with Rise Against, it was all starting to get a bit samey and another album of more of the same might well have turned me right off them.

There are track on the record that remind you that you are still listening to Rise Against. It's not as fast or as aggressive (is this down to the band or their label? I dunno). The lyrics to that acoustic number are fucking shocking; that one makes me cringe. theres another track where the song drops out to this kind of circus music "oompah" breakdown... Again.. why?

I appreciate the fact that they have tried to do something different. It'll probably split their fans down the middle, the "Rise Against purists" on one side and the "Rise Against can do no wrong" lot on the other.

The other thing that bugs me about it is how has Tim McGrath (who has arguably one of the best voices of the whole genre) managed to sing most of this album straight out of his nose? Unless he's shouting and roaring his head off, it seems he sings a bit like a deaf person. There's a alot more singing rather than shouting in tune on this record.

I'm not convinced. I don't think it's a master stroke just because they've toned it down and done something different. I appreciate them trying not to make the same record over again and I need to give it a few more listens to get used to the hooks. I'm only giving them a second chance cos Shippy's conciced himself it's great, plus the fact that they're Rise Against and I have always loved them so.

I like it, maybe not quite as much as Sufferer but I have only had it a week thus far, so there's time yet. I think it must be quite hard playing in that sort of band, trying to keep things fresh whilst trying to maintain a fanbase that screams 'sellout' every time a band member sneezes.

Personally I think McIlrath's voice sounds better on the recent albums than their previous material, it somehow seems less forced. Plus, there seems to be a few more personal songs on this album which is nice. Occasionally they’ve fallen into that Bad Religion trap of having songs that read like punk rock madlibs rather than portraying any real sense of feeling.

Compared to the let downs that were the last Alkaline Trio and Jimmy Eat World records this is a decent return in my book!

Funny, i've never heard any music by this band... Just another punk band, and far too much else to listen too.

Acidently came across a song on Scuzz, and Really liked it. I assume its from the new album, but didnt catch its name - so i might have to go back over thier back catalogue!

Riff Chug finger lickin' good

Just got the album today for my birthday.....and better than that a ticket to see them in brissol in Feb!! Get in!!

My 2 peneth worth on the album all be it only after a few listens. I like it, got some great anthemic choruses... agree its not quite as good as some of their earlier stuff and is very formulaic. But its still got some crackers on it!!

I've decided I don't like it anything like as much as Revolutions, Siren song or even Sufferer. The mid paced stuff all just blurs together in the middle. Tim's not signing anything like he's capable of. All the urgency has gone and that acoustic song about the soldier, dear lord that's a cringeworthy bag of shite. Over the top righteous sentiment, I can't bear that one.

There are a couple of fairly decent songs, but I don;t think a single track on that record would have made it onto any of my previously mentioned Rise Against albums.

The songs with the russian circus fairground middle eight... also bollocks.

I'm all for bands developing themselves and being brave enough to try something different, but I don't think this is much cop. I really wanted to like it cos I've loved Rise Against for years. Most of this record is just radio friendly rock - something I thought I'd never say about this band.

I decided that it was pants and took it off my computer. If he decides he wants to sing with anything other than complete disinterest on the next record, I might let them off. As it is, Im pretending they split up after the last tour.

The ompah s**t pissed me off so much that i to have removed it from my hard drive. I dug it a little bit, but on continued listens it was mediocre at best
