HI all

Just need some advice from some guitar gods on this site .

I currently play a parker P36 , which is my main guitar , i love its versatility and its whole look.
But this year as a last sort of big buy for myself before I plough all my money into stuff for my kids (2 year old , 9 week old) i wanna buy one last guitar .

My head was turned by a review in TG Magazine by the Micheal Kelly Patriot custom , which they say plays like a guitar 3 times its price (299.99) . The only thing that puts me off is weight issues as i play a parker and its pritty light weight - i dont want to be put off playing my new guitar as its too heavy !

So browsing the GAK website i come across the Yamaha AES620 HB , which looks awesome in the same sort of les paul style which i am after . But with yamaha being such a big make making everything its seems i wonder how good the build quality would be .

The basic guitar i'm after is pritty striking , good quality and something near a les paul shape for no more than 350 - not really into big guitar makes , any ideas ?

Thanks if anyone can help

Andy

The Chinese made Tokai Les Paul copies are meant to be fantastic value for money, and loads better than the Epiphone equivalents.

I used to have a yamaha AES820 - pretty good versatile guitar, however I just didn't get on with it - bit of a jack of all trades, master of none.

If I had £350 to spend on a guitar, I'd get a mexican fender... that's just me. It all depends on the sort of noises you like!

Good grief no - the Chinese Toks are terrible - I'm amazed Tokai put their name on them. Every Epi I have ever played is much better. I played a handful of the cheapo Toks in Denmark St shops started - every one was rough as a badger's arse.

The 'proper' Tokais are a whole different ball game - routinely excellent (although more expensive obviously)

great singlecut, double humbucker guitars at a good price. Or a s/h Epi LP with a pickup overhaul at some point

Hi all

Had a look at the washburn ,it seems ok been seem more angled towards heavier metal players than a rock player.

Thanks for everyones suggestions though , if anyone has anymore suggestions that would be great .

At the moment i'm thinking about getting a Parker PM20 ,anyone ever played one ?
