Reply to Post 27133 by Ace_Of_Bass in Beijing Olympics 2008 Yeah can't see anyone else getting it tbh.

Lewis Hamilton could stop him if he wins the championship - but seeing as he's now schtuping a pussycat doll should surely be blackballed.

Germain Mason in the high jump yesterday was amazing. A complete nobody in an event we are usually s**t at and he takes the silver medal!

Can't wait to see this. He even dips at the end even though he's a mile in front of people?? Brilliant.

Not sure that he "smashed" the record though, but shaving 0.02secs is still good going.

Talking of world records, anyone remember Ben Johnson? The Canadian who ran 8.79 (I remember thinking back then that this was totally impossible time!!). Anyway, it's reported that Johnson was robbed of $7,300 by Roma people in Rome. His wallet was taken, containing $7,300 in cash. Johnson gave chase but was apparently unable to catch them.

The irony.

He didnt smash it but nobody had broken Michael Johnson's record for twelve years and it still looked like an impossible task to beat it. The scariest thing is that Bolt is only 22! He could have another three olympics in him yet....

Currently cheering on the red haired ludicrously-socked Phillips Idowu in the triple jump. I dont know what I am going to do with myself next week with no olympics to watch...something slightly more productive perhaps.

i watched usain bolt's world record run yesterday at heathrow airport. it was amazing. the place seemed to come to a standstill, even the security guards there suspended duties for the 20-odd seconds of action. i reckon this makes usain bolt not only the fastest human that has ever lived but also officially more important than the global war on terror. what a star!

That 14 year old diver did well today. If the press lay into him for not winning a medal then they should be shot, they already had a go at him a week or two ago for arguing with his partner, he's 14 years old for chrissakes, how dare they do they build him up and knock him down in that awful way the british press delight in.

Also, did anyone see the absolutely shocking judging against the British girl in the taekwondo? They turned it around in the end, but it was horrendous!

And, best moment do far, a Cuban kicks the judge in the head in the taekwondo ...

How can anyone carrying $7,300 not be weighed down by the sheer weight of it?!?

To be the fastest man on earth and be named "Bolt" .. Gonna make a fortune. Also. I know he only shaved a little off the 200m time. But, he absolutley pissed the 100m and didn't look like he was trying. Surely it makes good commecial sense for him to keep shaving a bit off here and there... not beat the record by shitloads (as he apparently clearly seems capable of), that way he can break it several more times in the coming years and become a multi millionaire legend.
