Beta Band- 3 eps... dunno what I think, maybe just a bit too indulgent? Sometimes I like, sometimes I'm bored.
Sparks- Number One Song in Heaven... still sounds as fresh as a newly born bastard child.
Donna Summer- I Feel Love... forgot how good this is.
Belle & Sebastian- Stop, Look, Listen

I am also assuming you have seen the Monkees film "Head"? apart from having the, quite frankly sublime "Porpoise Song" as it's opening theme it's also a great example of a band completely sabotaging their career

Stacey Kent - The Boy Next Door (album)

You should be able to pick up a DVD version on Amazon fairly cheaply, it's a cracking film, great way to deconstruct a pop group, the soundtrack is great, the complete lack of a plot is hilarious, it's very much "of its time" but worth owning in my opinion
