Heyyy!
At the moment I'm listening to YOB, Real Estate, The Caretaker, Rustie, ELOQ, Ford & Lopatin, Dead Rider, True Widows, Planes Mistaken For Stars, JR Ewing, Hawk Eyes, The Mars Volta, Wild Beasts, Refused, Black Breath, Trap Them, Beecher, The Books, Son Lux, Skeletonwitch, Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross, Holy Fuck, Death From Above 1979, Lightning Bolt and Shining.
Some of my favourite artists are Cave In, Refused, Deftones, Hawk Eyes, JR Ewing, Three Trapped Tigers/Evil Ex, Burial, Deaf Center, Svarte Greiner, Ben Folds, Everything Everything, Weezer, Glassjaw and Mastodon.
I'm interested in doing something raw and natural sounding. Tidal Arms, Warship, JR Ewing. I'm leaning towards the idea of something heavy in a fuzzy, doomy, crusty, sludgy sort of way too, Entombed, Black Breath, Trap Them, Struck By Lightning, although I am not to keen on achieving a massively polished or 'classic' metal sound a la Skeletonwitch. There have been a lot of ace post-White Stripes two-pieces in the last 5-10 years. I'm up for trying something intense and stripped down in that area. Death From Above, Lightning Bolt, That Fucking Tank, Pneu, Black Cobra... Kong, Zu.. I'm open to anything so long as it is forward thinking and fits in somehow with what's going on in the here and now. I'd expect any band to sound like a sum of it's parts to begin with and I'm well aware that the sort of drummer I find will dictate things to a certain degree. I'd like to be part of a project which didn't give too much away and came across as sort of distant or detached, a bit dangerous basically. I want to think about all of that stuff.
Let me know if any of that makes sense to you. ( :
