sorry to interject into your hectic days ladies and gentlemen but my group "auralcandy" have recorded some songs and have had them made into a record

the Rise record shop in the middle of Swindon will sell them for us and have them in stock very shortly, the sound knowledge record shop in Marlborough already has them.

they only cost £3 and if you buy the vinyl release you can download the four songs free from our website

thank you for your time

Brilliant. Will pop in next week to purchase. Out of interest, where did you get it pressed? And was the cost comparable to a run of CDs? I'd love to put my next release out on vinyl.

I'll have to pick that up. No need to ask where you stand on the vinyl vs. CD debate then, Rob?

Last time I asked, printing vinyl cost a fortune! So I guess the guys in the band footed the bill? For the love of vinyl??

Actually that would make a great T-shirt!

we could only afford the shortest run (250), white disco bags, b&w label and shrink wrap - came out at £2.71 each, add on sleeve print etc and the cost soon goes over £3.50-£4.00. but there's always economy of scale if you're ordering 1,000s.

the vinyl was always something I wanted to do - I've played on quite a number of vinyl releases (in the days before CD) but never my own band - always as session or backing musician - it was a decision made by the heart not the head - I paid for it and have put it down as a "loss"...

I'm really glad that Rise are in town and take "unsigned/independent" releases - pricing means that we can (realistic) put a £3 price tag - Rise are on a 50/50 deal so that band gets back £1.50 per sale - so we're looking at a £1.20 loss per unit. Obviously direct sales we make 29p per unit - so if we sell 4 for every one Rise sells we break even!

"for the love of vinyl" - a great logo/tee design for sure (given the economics of the release)....

be careful when ordering though - I found out (too late) that the pressing plant was "somewhere" in Europe after placing the order - not that this is a bad thing but when I was told we would not have the merch for the launch event I offered to drive and pick the stuff up - only then did I find that the merch was not in the UK. I'm also "negotiating" with the media company some resolution to the fact I paid for shrink wrap and the items are not wrapped....

a number of people have complained to me that they've been in to Swindon Rise and can't find our record. I spoke to the guys in the shop and they say that the record is in the rack...(I will go in and check next time I'm in town)

advice - if you can't find it ask one of the guys in the shop...or PM me and I'll get a copy to you...

cheers chaps
