Part Chimp
To split after new album

London's and probably the UK's best noise-pop terrorists are calling it a day after the current tour ends.

They are in the US touring w/ Torche (a band I can't really get into) which I caught at The Mercury Lounge in NYC, and I totally fell back in love with them!

I got the first two records proper, Chart Pimp and I Am Come, but didn't bother with Thriller - for no reason bar they dipped off my radar. After search and scrawling shows to go to in NYC I found this little beauty and decided to go.

It was a monster of set, which was load and oppressive as fuck, exactly what you want from a Part Chimp show.

Sadly it wasn't until I got back and searched for reviews / pictures that I found out they are splitting after the current tour.

They finish in the US and then head to Europe - but as of yet no final UK dates...

They are probably king of the split release too, having released about 12 songs for various compilations and splits!

I now have the Big Bird 7' vinyl which I paid $7, which was about £4.60 and had to continue holding it for the rest of my journey home, not trusting it to get through luggage unbroken!

I am well gutted about this, as I love the noise pop. I really wanted to see Thought Forms hit the stage with them at some point too.

Sad news. First band I ever put on in Swindon and made good friends with them and their driver, Jamie (who later turned out to be a friend of Frank Turner). RIP noisy mutherfuckers.

Man, I never knew you put them on! Great band, tis' a shame. I read the most fantastic interview about how they mastered their 2nd album. They did it them selves, and just turned everything up to max. Simples. Needless to say, it sounded cracking ; )
