Also, influencial they may have been but they never sold that many records, can we really begrudge them earning a few quid out of it?
Completely agree with this. They were completely screwed over by record companies in the early days and their sales probably never matched their critical acclaim/cult following so I don't begrudge them making a few quid. Especially Reni and Squire who you can hardly accuse of chasing the dollar over the last sixteen years...they have barely been heard of, The Seahorses (stop sniggering at the back) aside.
Personally, I am 2 parts excited beyond belief and one part apprehensive that this will be one enormous let down. I read an article today comparing Ian Brown's voice to 'the honking of a despondent goose wearing a balaclava'. Still, they are quite possibly my favourite band of all time so I will happily sell my soul for a chance to see them live. The Blur reunion gig I saw at Hyde Park a couple of years back is right up there with one of the best live gigs I have ever seen...so reunions can work.
*Name Drop Alert* On the subject of John Robb, one of my neighbours is the guitarist from his post punk mentalist band The Membranes. Very nice chap too.
