Much as I hate the Sun they were the first to break the news of Pulp and Blur reforming so there could well be truth in this.

added to which Guy Garvey from Elbow, Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays, Clint Boon from the Inspiral Carpets and Jon Robb (Music Journalist and former frontman with Goldblade) have all said it's happening as well.

Why would they all lie

Garvey has said they've been rehearsing on and off all summer

Also when the "Stone Roses Reunion" rumours have surfaced over the years they have been hotly denied within a matter of hours by Ian Brown or John Squire, 4 days after this story broke.. not a word from the band or their management.

I could be wrong but I think it's happening.

I think there's nothing wrong with bands reforming, Stone Roses split up 16 years ago, plenty of people never got the chance to see them play live as they were too young, why not let them have that chance?

Pixies reformed for money, didn't see anyone grumble about that, also Pulp

I just hope if this is true that they reform for 12 months, play the gigs and maybe a few festivals, then split up, I'm not convinced new material will surface and, unlike the Pixies they shouldn't hang around for 7 years after the reunion.

Stone Roses fizzled out with that awful Reading festival set minus John and Reni, It'd be great closure if they bow out with some proper shows with the full band.

Also, influencial they may have been but they never sold that many records, can we really begrudge them earning a few quid out of it?

I saw the Roses back in late 89, they were great, I hope I get the chance to see them again in 2012

I totally understand where you're coming from. I've seen Blur and The Verve in the last 3 years and they were both great. I just hope if the Roses do reform that they can do justice to their sublime songs.

was talking to John Robb last night (Louder Than War etc) and he is off to a press conference today so I would thought there is some truth in it.

John Robb is friends with the band and is their biographer, if he says it's true, I think it's true

It just seems a bit weird how Brown & Squire always get all johnny big spuds about how they'll never sell out and reform the band, yet lo an behold...

I never really got what all the fuss was about though!

Fair enough

I don't begrudge them making a few quid, they didn't sell that many records at the time

Darren, you seem extremely keen for this to end in a big "told you so" why is that?

A very astute marketing approach: make people believe that what they want is not, and will never be, available... and then make it available to them.

As long as it's full original line-ups (or the next best thing) then I don't really mind reunions. I mean, all this stuff about 'tarnishing legacies' is just posturing, really. Even if a band reforms and are s**t live and put out an even worse new album, how does that make their original albums somehow worse? It's the same with those much-vaunted 'special memories' that people say they have - how does the band being s**t in 2012 change your memory of what you saw in 1990?
