Band Bio
Bateleurs are a Contemporary folk/rock band based in Wiltshire, UK.
Central to the sound is the distinctive duel lead vocals & harmonies of Daryl Ball & Sean Amor. Daryl’s vocals are smooth with an Irish inflection, Sean’s voice is tender with a plaintiff, jagged edge, which cuts right through and suits their music perfectly. They are accompanied by Chris Mac (Drums) and Nick Wall (Bass). To create their authentic sound, Bateleurs employ numerous instruments in addition to the standard Guitar, Bass & Drums. These include mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, harmonica, recorder, piano & cajon.
They have been favourably compared to The Waterboys, The Levellers, Mumford and Son, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty.
The band is popular on the South West music scene and veterans of summer festivals such as Swindon’s Big Arts Day, SOLAM, Treefest, Broadtown Big Gig & Oxjam.
Bateleurs released their debut 3 song EP - New Day Rising in May 2010. Tracks posted online generated immediate and overwhelmingly positive feedback and gained a lot of radio airplay.
They are also regularly featured on Signal Radio FM - a local radio station featuring Swindon's best music artists where they achieved a listeners number 1 with 'Hello Girl'.
A live session on Swindon 105.5FM was described by the presenters as 'Definitely one of the best bands we've had on the show to date!'
And in February 2011 Bateleurs made the finals of the Swindon 105.5 Late Gig competition.
In August 2011 Bateleurs released their acclaimed debut album and will continue to play and record in 2012.
